A husband and wife who are proprietors of a private school in Ugwunagbo Local Government of Abia State have regained freedom from their abductors after paying N200,000 ransom.
Their abduction led to an indefinite suspension of a planned end of the year/Christmas party at the school.
It was learnt that the kidnappers freed the couple after realising they could not get more out of them.
The couple were kidnapped at Umuobasi Ukwu village in Umugo community, Ugwunagbo LGA on December 12.
It was gathered that soldiers attached to the 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have arrested some members of the gang.
The gang members had been operating in the past weeks in Aba and its environs in a Lexus SUV.
The couple had gone to buy things that the school was to use for its graduation ceremony in the same community.
A source said: “The three-man gang with a Lexus Jeep picked both of them, leaving behind their three children wandering and crying.
“The eldest child is about seven years. They slept without their parents and they don’t know when their parents are going to come back.”
